Bhubaneswar, May 3:

Odisha unit of BJP today organised demonstrations across all 36 of its organisational districts in the state seeking removal of chit fund scam inquiry commission head Justice MM Das and Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare (FS&CW) Minister Sanjay Das Burma.

While rallies were taken out across all district headquarters today, memorandums were submitted to the Governor through collectors and effigies of Minister Das Burma were burnt in many places too.

Besides, party leaders questioned the silence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the issues.

“Lakhs of small investors have lost their money in these scams. Involvement of ruling party leaders including Minister Sanjay Das Burma stands proven. On the other hand a commission — that had been formed to identify the chit fund victims and ensure that they are compensated — questions the very purpose of it. Isn’t it time the Chief Minister acts,” questioned an agitator in Nuapada.

Notably, BJP had yesterday taken out a rally from Buxi Bazaar party office in Cuttack and marched till Justice Das’s office in state police headquarters seeking his resignation of Justice MM Das.

Odisha Assembly was also adjourned for better part of the day over these issues as both major opposition parties sought removal of Justice Das and Das Burma.
