Brahmapur,Sep 14
The Odisha unit of BJP on Saturday hoped that the party would perform better in the 2014 state assembly and general elections following Narendra Modi being named the party's prime ministerial candidate.
"We are confident of doing well in the ensuing assembly and general elections after the party declared Modiji as the prime ministerial candidate," BJP's state unit president KV Singhdeo told reporters here.
Claiming that the people wanted Modi as the next prime minister, Singhdeo said "The party has taken a right decision at the right time.
"Gujarat developed under the Modi regime. We hope same development experiment will be implemented in the country after he becomes the prime minister," he added.
Singhdeo was here to campaign for party candidates contesting the Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BMC).
