Bhubaneswar: A senior leader of Odisha unit BJP has landed in trouble after the alleged key conspirator in a BJD leader murder today named the former of facilitating stay in Dehradun to evade arrest.
The startling revelation recorded on camera has put the saffron party on a sticky wicket. The statement of the arrested BJP leader Krushnachandra Nayak is all set to put senior party leader Golak Mohapatra in trouble.
“After staying in Kolkata for 10-12 days, I dialled Golak Bhaina – our leader – and asked for help. He told us to go to Dehradun. A person named Chandu contacted us and took to a guest house. He gave us room no 204,” Krushnachandra Nayak said in the video.
The police today said that they are planning to take the accused on remand to extract more information from them.
“We will go for physical verification of the statement given by them to gather supplementary and complementary evidences. It is a matter of investigation and we have kept it open,” Ganjam SP Asish Singh told media.
The two prime accused – BJP Ganjam district unit secretary Krushnachandra Nayak and Duryodhan Reddy – on the run have been arrested from Dehradun. Ganjam police had formed three teams to nab all those involved in the gruesome murder of the young BJD leader.
This is how the duo sneaked out of Odisha:
They took a taxi from Chhatrapur to Cuttack post the incident fearing arrest. After staying for two days in the millennium city, they boarded a train to Kolkata where they stayed for 10-12 days.
The two called up BJP leader Golak Mohapatra seeking help. The latter reportedly instructed them to leave for Dehradun where he facilitated their stay at a guest house.
It may be recalled here that Chhatrapur Councillor Laxmidutta Pradhan was murdered by a group of individuals in broad daylight on September 16 this year.
Meanwhile, political blame game has ensued in the state owing the arrest of the duo.
“When the accused says in his statement that BJP leader helped them to hide, it says all about their character,” senior BJD leader Surjya Narayan Patro said.
On the other hand, BJP claimed it to be a conspiracy against the party.
“It is a conspiracy against BJP for its resurgence in Ganjam district. The ruling party has become intolerant and using the government machinery to its advantage. We are ready to face law,” BJP leader Sajjan Sharma expressed.
