Bhubaneswar: The ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in Odisha today claimed that BJP leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Jaynarayan Mishra has made certain serious allegations against his own party colleagues.
Addressing a press conference here, BJD national spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra raised questions on the silence of BJP state leadership regarding the allegations made by the LoP.
Earlier, Mishra alleged that the BJD government in Odisha was trying to suppress his voice by framing him in false cases as the ruling party could not ‘manage’ him as per its own will.
“The ruling party was managing others as per its own will. But, it could not manage me. That is why the BJD government is trying to frame me in false cases,” Mishra had said to media persons.
The LoP has made some serious allegations towards his predecessor Pradipta Naik, who is now recovering from his illness, Patra said.
“It is unfortunate that the LoP is making allegations towards former BJP MLA and former Deputy Leader of Opposition Bishnu Charan Sethi, who died last year. The LoP is saying that Naik, Sethi and BJP chief whip in Odisha Assembly Mohan Majhi were being managed by the ruling party. This is a very serious allegation. The BJP state leadership should speak up on the issue,” Patra added.
Mishra had earlier orchestrated shoe hurling on BJP state unit president Samir Mohanty. Now, he is making serious allegations against his own party colleagues. The BJP leadership should take stern action against Mishra, Patra added.
Notably, Mishra has been criticizing the state government over the alleged deterioration in law and order situation in Odisha in the wake of killing of Health Minister Naba Das by a policeman on January 29.
The LoP had allegedly manhandled a woman police officer during an agitation by the BJP workers against the state government in Sambalpur recently. The police have registered two separate cases in this regard.
