BJP leads in 4, SP in 3 in UP

Lucknow:  Initial trends in Uttar Pradesh Assembly by-elections to seven seats showed the BJP leading in four seats while the Samajwadi Party in three as counting got underway.

Early trends showed the BJP leading in Bulandshahr, Ghatampur, Deoria and Bangarmau.

The Samajwadi Party is leading in Amroha while BJP’s Sangeeta Chauhan, wife of former minister and cricketer Chetan Chauhan, is trailing.

Akhilesh Yadav’s party is also leading in Malhani and Tundla. The Samajwadis appear to be gaining since it held only one of the seven seats where by-elections were held.
