BJP observes 12-hour bandh in Odisha’s Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: The BJP is today observing a 12-hour bandh from 6 am to 6 pm in Odisha’s Kalahandi district over several issues.

The effect of the bandh was felt in Bhawanipatna town as the party workers resorted to picketing and road blockade holding banners. Many shops and businesses establishments remained closed in view of the bandh observance.

However, emergency services have been excluded from the ambit of the bandh.

The demands of the party are removal of country liquor manufacturing units from the district, stopping Katni Chatni by millers during paddy procurement and distress sale of cotton, and decrease in electricity tariff.

The BJP had earlier gheraoed all block and RI offices to press their demands. As no steps were taken towards fulfillment of the demands, the party gave a bandh call in the district.
