Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today released its manifesto for the upcoming Assembly polls in Odisha.

The party released its manifesto titled as ‘Sankalp Patra’ with tagline ‘Modi ki Guarantee’ for the upcoming polls.

The BJP termed its manifesto as the blueprint for the development of Odisha and claimed that is has detailed plans to address issues of all sections of the society.

“We are fighting the polls to form government in Odisha not to sit as Opposition in the Assembly,” said BJP national president JP Nadda while releasing the poll manifesto.

The party promised zero tolerance to corruption in the state. It also promised to return the hard-earned money of the victims of the Chitfund scam in the state within 18 months if its voted to power.

The BJP said it would provide Rs 3,100 as MSP per quintal of paddy. It would build ‘Odia Bhawan’ in all metro cities in the country.

The BJP will launch ‘Subhadra’ scheme for the women of Odisha. Each and every woman in the state will get a voucher of Rs 50,000 for the development of her family. The women can encash these vouchers within two years, Nadda said.

“We will create 25 lakh Lakhpati Didi in Odisha by 2027 through the women self-help group (SHG) scheme,” he added.

The party promised to build world-class roads and develop several industrial corridors and IT parks in Odisha. The BJP will fill all 1.5 lakh vacant government post in the state, Nadda added.

“We will bring transparency in the administration of Jagannath temple and develop the shrine with world-class facilities. The BJP will make an inventory of the Ratna Bhandar of the shrine once it forms government in the state. We will also reopen all four gates of the shrine for the devotees,” said Nadda.

In its manifesto, the party plans to set up three textile parks in the state. Besides, it promised to implement the Ayushman Bharat health scheme for the people of Odisha.

“We will take appropriate steps to make Odisha the third most preferred tourist destination in the country,” Nadda said.

While releasing its manifesto, the party pitched for ‘Double Engine Government’ that is BJP government at the Centre as well as in Odisha for rapid development in the country and in the state.

The BJP exuded confidence that it would win majority of the 21 Lok Sabha as well as 147 Assembly seats in the state in 2024 polls.

The party claimed that it had collected suggestions from the common people in all Lok Sabha and Assembly seats in Odisha through online and offline modes to frame its poll manifesto. The BJP urged the voters to vote for its poll symbol ‘Lotus’ twice in the upcoming polls.

BJP national vice-president Baijayant Panda, spokesperson Sambit Patra, former Union Minister Jual Oram, party Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal, BJP manifesto committee chief Samir Mohanty and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi among others were present at the event.

Notably, the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls in Odisha will be held in four phases on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1.

The counting of votes will be done on June 1.
