BJP releases vision document for Delhi polls

New Delhi, Feb 3:

The BJP Tuesday released its vision document for the 2015 Delhi assembly polls, promising to address fundamental issues like power, water, health care and the transport system in the capital.

bjp logo“If we want to make Delhi a smart and a world class city, we have to address the basic issues like electricity, water and transport,” Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Delhi unit chief Satish Upadhyay told the media here.

He said the vision document promises steps to make Delhi a world class city and provide housing for all. “We have promised one lakh houses for the middle class,” Upadhyay said.

“This election will decide which path the capital will choose, whether there will be politics of development and good governance,” he added.

The vision document, which has been brought out instead of a manifesto, was framed by a committee led by senior BJP leader Harsh Vardhan.

The party’s chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi said: “The vision document covers many areas and includes cleaning the Yamuna river, housing for the poor, power, development of villages, animal shelters and the municipal corporation of Delhi.”

BJP leader Prabhat Jha assured voters that all the promises being made in the document will be fulfilled, and would help take Delhi forward.

However, the issue of full statehood for Delhi, which was part of the BJP manifesto in the 2013 assembly polls, does not find a mention in the vision document.

Delhi became a state in 1992 under the system of diarchy, whereby the elected government is provided with all powers, except law and order, which remains with the central government.

Delhi goes to polls Feb 7 and the votes will be counted Feb 10. (IANS)
