Bhubaneswar: A meeting of the newly-elected MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is scheduled to be held in the capital city here tomorrow (June 8).

“A meeting of the BJP legislature party will be held in the capital city on Saturday. The MLAs of the party will choose the next Chief Minister of Odisha in consonance with the recommendation of the central leadership,” said Kuchinda MLA Rabinarayan Nayak.

A person having political experience and sound knowledge of Odisha’s history and culture will be picked by the BJP as the next Chief Minister of the state, he added.

“All BJP MLAs and leaders are disciplined workers of the party. All of us will happily accept the decision of the party regarding the next Chief Minister in Odisha,” said the Kuchinda legislator.

The maiden BJP government in Odisha will work for the welfare of Odia people. The BJP is committed to fulfill all promises it has made in its poll manifesto for Odisha, he added.

The BJP has won 78 Assembly seats of the total 147 in Odisha in the just concluded polls. The BJD managed to get 51 seats while 14 seats went to the Congress party and four to independent nominees.

Notably, the BJP was the alliance partner of BJD in Odisha during the latter’s first two terms government in the state in 2000 and 2004.The BJD snapped ties with the BJP in 2008.
