BJP to raise Naba Das murder, law & order situation in Odisha Assembly: Majhi

Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will raise a host of issues, including the murder of Health Minister Naba Das, during the Budget Session of Odisha Assembly, scheduled to commence on February 21.

“We will raise several issues including the murder of Health Minister Naba Das, deteriorating law and order situation in Odisha, crime against women and corruption in the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) in the Assembly during the Budget Session,” said BJP chief whip Mohan Charan Majhi after a meeting of the saffron party MLAs here today.

The BJP MLAs will also raise mining scam, poor condition of healthcare services in Odisha, unemployment and many other issues in the House during the session, Majhi added.

“The Chief Minister has been holding the charge of the Home Department for last several years. One of his Cabinet colleagues was killed by a policeman on January 29. The state Crime Branch is yet to unravel the motive behind the minster’s murder and arrest the conspirator. The law and order has collapsed in the state,” Majhi said.

Massive irregularities in the selection of beneficiaries for the PMAY in Odisha have come to the fore. Many ineligible people have managed to include their names in the PMAY beneficiaries’ list by bribing Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leaders, MLAs and Ministers, alleged the BJP leader.

“The state government has failed to provide justice to the farmers. There is no transparency in the distribution of rice under the PDS. Many private hospitals are getting crores of rupees from the public exchequer in the name of providing healthcare to the poor people under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana,” Majhi added.

The BJP leader also alleged financial irregularities in the organization of men’s hockey world cup in Odisha. The BJP will raise this issue in the Assembly, he said.

Leader of Opposition Jaynarayan Mishra, BJP Odisha unit president Samir Mohanty and BJP Odisha in-charge Sunil Banshal were present at the meeting.
