The incident occurred when BJP leaders Rudra Narayan Pany, Samir Mohanty and Bibhuti Pradhan were on their way to submit a memorandum to the district collector.
On not finding the Collector in her office, BJP workers suddenly turned angry and attempted to barge in into the former’s office which was resisted by the police on duty.
However, some BJP workers managed to sneak in into the premises and showered kicks on the door of the Collector’s office.
Following the incident, saffron party workers and police clashed leading to the mounting of tension in the area.
The situation was brought under control after senior BJP leaders intervened and asked their workers to cool down.
Earlier in the day, the BJP had organized a massive rally in which thousands had taken part.
The party later held a public meeting at the mini stadium in front of the Collector’s office before its leaders went to submit a memorandum to the Collector.
