Blistering heat turns Baripada into cauldron; the city hottest in India

Bhubaneswar: Baripada, the district headquarter of Mayurbhanj district has been reeling under severe heat wave with the city recording maximum temperature at 44.6 degrees Celsius today.

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Baripada was the hottest place in the country today.

Talcher registered 42.7 degrees Celsius followed by Boudh 42.5, Balangir, 42.2, Titlagarh 42, Angul 41.9, Sonepur 41.8 and Nayagarh 41.7 degrees Celsius.

Balasore was at 41.4 degrees Celsisus, Hirakud 41.4, Sambalpur 41.3, Bhawanipatna 41, Malkangiri 41 and Cuttack 40.5.

As per the Regional Meteorological Centre data, Balasore and Cuttack recorded the highest day temperature in last 10 years.

On March 30, 2019, Cuttack recorded 40.1 degrees Celsius as compared to 40.5 degrees Celsius today.

Balasore recorded 39.2 degrees Celsius on March 30, 2014 as compared to 41.4 degrees Celsius today.
