BMC eases lockdown restrictions for this sector, here’re details

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today relaxed some restrictions amid the lockdown for construction sector in areas under its jurisdiction. However, it has imposed some conditions for the developers and contractors while relaxing the restrictions.

In an order, the BMC said, “Continuation of works in construction projects, within the limits of the municipal corporation where workers are available on site and no workers are required to be brought in from outside (in-situ construction). Bringing workers from outside the work-site is strictly prohibited.”

This apart, the BMC eased restrictions for shops dealing in construction equipment and supplies such as cement, iron rods and chips etc.

The material should be delivered at the construction sites only during the night time from 10 pm to 5 am. The same must be ensured by the agencies, developers and contractors in coordination with shop owners, the order added.

Worth mentioning, the Revenue and Disaster Management department has authorised the Municipal Commissioners to issue further instructions or restrictions those are needed to effectively implement the lockdown order for containment of the spread of COVID-19.
