BMC employee arrested for selling brown sugar in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar:  In a shocking incident, an employee of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) was today arrested by the Commissionerate Police for allegedly selling brown sugar here.

Acting on a tip-off, the Lingaraj police conducted raid near Blood bank of BMC Hospital in Bhubaneswar and caught the accused red-handed while he was selling the contraband item. The cops seized eight gram brown sugar worth Rs 80,000 , Rs 42,000 cash, 40 gram gold, a motorcycle and five mobile phones from his possession.

“Accused Dilip Kumar Behera works at BMC as a contractual peon. He will be produced before court today,” police sources said.

Earlier today, Balasore police arrested a drug peddlers and seized brown sugar worth Rs 6.8 lakh from his possession.
