BMC gears up to face severe cyclonic storm ‘Titli’  

Bhubaneswar: In view of the possible severe cyclonic storm Titli which is likely to intensify into ‘very severe’, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has geared up to tackle any kind of eventuality.

The civic body will open 24×7 control room to assist people with all kind information relating to the cyclone. The control room will work in shifts whereas nodal officers of respective departments will be present at the control room to coordinate with officials on ground to resolve problems.

The BMC has also issued Helpline numbers 18003450061 and 0674-2432281 to receive complaints from people residing in low-laying areas. It has cancelled leave of all officials and asked them to be prepared from from October 10 to 12 to meet any eventuality. The BMC has asked BDA, Bhubaneswar Additional District Magistrate, PWD Superintending Engineer, Public Health Engineering Organisation Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer (Prachi Irrigation Division) of Water Resources Department and Chief Fire Officer to depute one nodal officer each to the control room for proper coordination.

Meanwhile, BMC has installed pumps in low lying areas of the city like Garage Chhak, Sarada Matha Lane, Sriram Nagar, Ratna Villa, Rabindra Garden and Paikanagar to avoid waterlogging during this period.
