The death toll in the Sambalpur boat tragedy mounted to 28 with the recovery of 18 more bodies today, the Special Relief Commisssioner PK Mohapatra said.Sambalpur Boat Mishap

Three persons are still missing and the toll could go up to 31 if their bodies are recovered, sources added.

Several rescue and search teams are engaged in the operation to fish out the bodies.

The tragedy was discussed in the state Assembly today with members cutting across party lines expressing concern over the lack of regulation and basic safety standards in ferry transport across the state.

The details of persons died and missing are given below:

1. Seema Agrawal (38) wife of Ashok Kumar Agrawal, N.Guha Lane, Sambalpur
2. Anita Singh (40) wife of Mahendra Singh, Talbhata Pada, Khetrajpur
3.Usha Agrawal (35) wife of Sunil Agrawal, Poddar Colony, Sambalpur
4.Santosh Kumari (50) wife of Keshan Singh, Mudi Pada, Sambalpur
5.Suchi Sunita Jena (30), wife of Abinash Jena, Sambalpur
6.Pooja Bhabani(22) daughter of Shyamlal, Gujrati Colony, Sambalpur
7.Purba Sharma (18) daughter of Rajendra Sharma, Sambalpur
8. Tania Sharma, (14) daughter of  Rajendra Sharma Sambalpur
9.Harish Agrawal (10) son of Ashok Agrawal, Sambalpur
10.Minu Tiwari (35) wife of Dinesh Tiwari, Sambalpur
11.Ansu Neotia (35) wife of Punit Neotia, Sambalpur

The three missing persons are Sampad Sarafn (44-Male), Ishan Neotia- (3-Male) and Shruti Agrawal (13-Female)
