Body found buried in riverbed on outskirts of Odisha Capital; probe begins

Bhubaneswar: A body of a human being was found buried in the riverbed of Kuakhai river at Balijatra ground under Mancheswar police station on outskirts of Bhubaneswar today evening.

After receiving information, the Mancheswar police reached the spot and the investigation was on. Till filing of this report, the identity of the body could not be established.

Initially, some locals spotted a hand and legs of a man in the riverbed of Kuakhai. They went closer and found the body to be buried in the riverbed.

After the police was informed, they reached the spot.

Barimunda panchayat Sarpanch Birendra Jena said, “A hand and two legs of the human being were found buried in the riverbed. Maybe after recent downpour, the hand and legs of the body could be seen outside. Otherwise it would have been difficult to find the body.

The Sarpanch further stated the body does not seem to be of any local as there has not been any missing report in recent past.

Perhaps, someone has murdered the person and buried it in the riverbed, he added.
