Body of album actress found hanging in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Police recovered a body of an Odia album actress found hanging inside a house at Old Town area here on Wednesday.

The deceased identified as Kaushalya Mallick (20), a native of Hatiaganda village under Remuna police limits in Balasore district, was found hanging from ceiling inside a room of house located at Nageswartangi under Shree Lingaraj Police limits.

Although, the exact reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained, the family dispute is suspected to be the prime cause for which the actress took extreme step to end life.

Police registered an unnatural death case and sent the body for postmortem. They also seized Kaushalya’s mobile phone from the spot.

According to reports, Kaushalya had been staying alone at a rented house in Nageswartangi area. She had married to Lakhminarayan Behera, a resident of Balasore district on December 17 last year.

As it was love marriage, the in-laws of Kaushalya were neither approving the couple’s wedding nor were they allowing Kaushalya into the home.

Her husband was visiting her every Sunday in Bhubaneswar.

Reports said Kaushalya was under depression in the past few days after she fought with her husband, who had not visited her last Sunday.

She was found dead after one of her friends visited the house in Bhubaneswar and she did not open the door. Her friend informed her neighbour, who informed the police later.
