Body of CISF jawan found while hanging inside campus in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Rourkela: A middle-aged Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) jawan was spotted while hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances inside the campus in Rourkela of Sundargarh district, today.

The deceased was identified as Sahil Kumar (31), who belonged to the Kathua district of Jammu & Kashmir.

However, the reason behind the jawan’s untimely death has not been ascertained yet.

According to sources, Sahil had returned from his native place to the CISF camp two days ago after his ring ceremony was over. His marriage was scheduled to be solemnised on February 26, 2024. Sahil had gone to sleep last night after having food. Some jawans spotted his body during a morning walk.

The circumstantial evidence suggests that it is a case of death by suicide. “However, the possibility of a family feud cannot be ruled out. The exact cause behind the jawan’s death can be confirmed only after a post-mortem report comes in. Sahil’s family members will arrive in Rourkela tomorrow and the autopsy will be done in their presence at Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH),” a senior cop said.

On being informed, the Plant Site police reached the spot and seized the body of Sahil. Police have sent the body to hospital for post-mortem and initiated a probe into the death, which is underway.
