The body of one of the two youths, who had gone missing after drowning in the river Mahanadi at the Gadagadia ghat in Odisha’s Cuttack city today has been fished out by the personnel of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF).

While efforts are on to rescue the other youth who is still missing, the body of the rescued youth has been sent to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
The youth whose body has been fished out by ODRAF personnel has been identified as V Venkat Rao of Barapatra locality of Buxi Bazaar.
Two teams of the ODRAF, local policemen, and Fire Brigade personnel had launched search operations to rescue the drowned youths after news broke out of their drowning.
According to reports, the two youths from Patapola area of the city belonging to the Telugu community were swept away by the current at around 2 PM while they were immersing ghata for ‘Sola Puamaa’ in the swollen river.
