Body of elderly woman found at Malisahi ghat of Mahanadi in Odisha’s Boudh

Boudh: An elderly woman was found dead today morning while floating on water under mysterious circumstances at Malisahi Ghat of river Mahanadi in Boudh town of this district.

The deceased was identified as Rupa Kumbhar from Kantunia village under Boudh police limits. The family of Rupa was called by a probe team and has identified the elderly woman’s body.

According to a source, Rupa had left her house on Saturday evening to have Darshan of the deities in a local temple. Her family launched a frantic search for her at all probable locations but to no avail, after the elderly woman did not return home for quite long hours.

However, Rupa’s body was fished out from the water by a team of fore services personnel.

On being informed, a team of police reached the spot and seized the body and sent it to a hospital for post-mortem. Police have registered an unnatural death (U/d) case and launched a detailed probe into the suspicious death, a senior official said.
