Body of girl found in hotel room under mysterious circumstances in Jatni

Khordha: The body of a girl was spotted today morning while hanging inside a room of a lodge under mysterious circumstances near Sitaram Chhak in Jatni locality of Khordha district.

The girl had checked in yesterday night along with a youth who later left the lodge. “The co-occupant went out to bring dinner at around 11 pm but did not return thereafter,” an employee said.

According to a source, a house-keeping staff of the hospitality facility knocked the door of the room (No-113) in the morning but no one responded for a long time. Later, the police were informed about it.

As per the hotel register, the girl had identified herself as Rasmita Jena and the youth as Smrutiranjan Jena from Asilo village of Jagatsinghpur. They checked into the hotel as married couple.

On being informed, a team of local police reached the spot and broke open the door and saw the girl hanging. The team recovered the body and launched a probe.
