Body of man found tied to a sack in village pond in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack:   In a shocking incident, body of man tied to a sack was found floating in a pond in Niali in Odisha’s Cuttack district here today. The deceased was identified as Bulu Sahu (43), son of one Kapil Sahu of Sahu Sahi in Kabichandrapur village of Kasarda panchayat within Niali police limits. He had gone missing since December 3.

While the exact cause of death has not been established yet, family members have alleged that he was murdered.

As per reports, Bulu had gone to evaluate the paddy threshing machine at around 7 pm on December 3. When he did not return and had not taken his mobile phone along, his wife called up one of his friends who informed her that the assessment is over and Bulu will be home soon. However, as the latter did not turn up even late in the night, his wife reached out to police and filed a missing complaint.

On Friday morning, Bulu’s body was found floating, tied to a sack in a village pond nearby. Police on getting information reached the spot and seized the body. While official sources said the cause of death will be established only after autopsy, family members alleged that he has been murdered.

A case of un-natural death has been registered and probe is underway.
