Body of missing minor girl found in Odisha forest

Sundergarh: A minor girl missing since Saturday was found dead in a forest near a village in Odisha’s Sundergarh district today. It is suspected to be a case of rape and murder.

As per the available information, the decomposed body of the girl was recovered from forest near Gopalpur village under Hemagiri Police limits of Sundergarh district this afternoon.

The 15-year-old girl had gone missing from her home on July 20. Following this, her family had lodged a missing complaint with the police and a case was registered under Section 366 of IPC.

Meanwhile, the girl’s family alleged that she was raped and murdered as her clothes were found away from her body.

The police, however, has intensified its investigation to nab the accused.

Earlier in the day, cases of rape of minor girls and missing children rocked the Odisha Assembly as the opposition demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik over the issue.
