Boudh: A middle-aged woman constable was spotted while hanging under mysterious circumstances in her government residence at Police Colony in Butupali locality of Boudh district, today.

The deceased woman was identified as Champa Meher, who had been residing in the staff quarters along with her husband and two children. She was working as a guard in Boudh government treasury.

After being spotted in the morning, Champa was taken to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Boudh town where doctors declared her ‘dead’.

On being informed, a team of local police reached the spot and launched an investigation.

“Reason behind the woman’s death has not been ascertained yet. The actual cause of her death can be confirmed only after a post-mortem report comes in. Police have detained the victim’s husband and initiated a probe in this connection,” a senior cop said.
