The body of the youth, identified as Durgashish Naik (28), who hails from Baialismauja, Cuttack and works as a Technician in Larsen & Tubro’s construction division and resides in Mission Square under Town police station in Sundargarh, was recovered by a team of Sundargar police from near Dharuadih railway station. Naik had gone missing since the evening of April 5.

“We have detained a person in this  case and are now interrogating him,” said  PK Jena, IIC, Town Police Station, Sundargarh.

Sources said when Naik did not turn up for his duty since 6th April, company officials dialed his mobile but found it switched off. They then dialed his parents who live in Bailsmauja, Cuttack and asked about Durgasish’s whereabout but since they had no idea about him, they immediately came to Sundargarh and lodged a missing report in Town police station.

Acting on a tip-off on Friday afternoon, Town police team of Sundargarh, accompanied by a dog squad and a scientific team, went near Dharuadih railway station and dug a place in which Subhasis’s body was found. There were injury marks on his body and head. Circumstances suggested that he had been buried after  being killed.
