Body of youth recovered from railway tracks in Dhenkanal in Odisha

Biswajit's kin alleged that his dues to the tune of over Rs 2.5 lakh were pending due to which he was distressed and is believed to have had a conflict with his employer over the issue which led to the murder

Dhenkanal: Body of a youth was recovered from the railway tracks of Shyamacharanpur station within Dhenkanal town police limits in the district in Odisha here today. The deceased was identified as Biswajit Panigrahi, a resident of Thakurpal village in Joranda. While the cause of death is yet to be ascertained, family members have alleged that he was murdered over work-related issues with his employer.

Sources said Biswajit was working with an electrical contractor since last four years. The employer, who happened to be his distant relative from the same village, however was allegedly not paying Biswajit his salary on time. Biswajit’s kin alleged that his dues to the tune of over Rs 2.5 lakh were pending due to which he was distressed and is believed to have had a conflict with his employer over the issue which led to the murder.

“Biswajit was killed and then his body was laid down on the tracks to make it look like a case of suicide,” claimed the uncle and brother of the deceased.

On the other hand, the employer has refuted the allegations levelled against him and said domestic issues could have led Biswajit to take the drastic step.

As per reports, Biswajit’s head and hands bore minor injury marks when his body was recovered. Railway and Town Police reached the spot and started investigation. The post-mortem report will establish whether it was a murder or suicide, they said.
