Body of youth recovered from sack in Odisha

Odisha police recovered body of a youth packed in a sack with hands and legs tied in Sambalpur town this morning.

Prima facie it appeared that the deceased was murdered. Preliminary investigation pointed towards extramarital affair to be the motive of the crime.

Local police launched a probing into the incident and have detained a couple in this connection.

According to police, the deceased, identified as Bapi Das (22), was running a grocery shop at Banglapada area in Badabazar in Sambalpur town.

A mason, identified as Niranjan Majhi, was staying with his wife nearby the deceased’s shop.

Reportedly, an illicit affair had developed between Bapi and Niranjan’s wife.

Niranjan came to know about the incident and hatched a plan to kill Bapi.

On Sunday night, he invited Bapi to his house and bludgeoned him to death with an iron rod. Later, Niranjan tied hands and legs of the deceased with electric cables and stashed it in a large sack to dispose it at a secluded place.

However, the accused failed to dump the body as the matter was exposed.

The body was seized in presence of district magistrate.

Further investigation is on.
