Rourkela: The body of an elderly man dumped in a sack was recovered from under the bridge pole of Sankh river in Odisha's Sundargarh district today. The identity of the deceased has not been established yet.
Though the exact cause of death is yet to be established, preliminary investigation suggests the man was murdered in another place and then his body disposed of in the river to eliminate any evidence.
As per reports, locals spotted a sack under the bridge of Sankh river near Jamnanaki between Vedvyas and Kuanrmunda within Brahmani Tarang police limits. Suspecting something is amiss, they informed police after which the latter along with fire service personnel arrived at the spot and recovered the body dumped inside. The body bore several injury marks which indicated murder. It appears that the man wore a black jacket. He was possibly murdered at one place and then his body stuffed inside the sack, official sources informed.
Meanwhile, police said a case has been registered and investigation is underway.
