Berhampur: A former mayor of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation escaped unhurt after miscreants threw a bomb on his vehicle here last night.
The incident occurred at around 10.30 pm on Friday when former Berhmapur Mayor Shiv Shankar Das alias Pintu Das was returning to his home.

According to reports, a few youth threw bombs at the vehicle of the former mayor near Bada Sahi at Gosaninuagaon area. The front portion of the vehicle has been damaged; however, Pintu sustained no injuries in the incident.

Though the reason behind the attack is still obscure, it is suspected that the attack might have been carried out against the former mayor over political enmity.
Pintu lodged a complaint at the Gosaninuagaon Police Station following the bomb attack. The police initiated a probe into the incident to nab the miscreants.
