Bhubaneswar: Panda Infra Projects, the company that had undertaken the construction work of Bomikhal railway overbridge in Odisha capital whose iron rods collapsed killing a labourer and injuring another, has been barred from carrying out further construction, said Works Department Secretary Nalinikanta Pradhan today.
The official further said that the remaining works to the tune of Rs 4-5 crore will be handed over to another firm and it will be completed within 2-3 months.
Further action will be taken after submission of detailed report pertaining to the mishap, he said. The company could not carry out works properly even after the first mishap during last year. Investigation by a third party will be conducted prior to the inauguration of the bridge, he added.
Notably, a labourer died and another was critically injured after a pile of iron rods fell on them near the under-construction flyover bridge on May 3 evening.
Pratap Panda, chief of Panda Infra, has been arrested by the Twin City Commissionerate Police under Sections 304, 337, 338 and 34 of IPC. He is currently lodged in the Jharpada Special Jail here.
Panda was arrested in a similar case earlier in September, last year. A portion of the flyover had caved in leading to death of a person.
