Boyanika launches exclusive designers’ garment store

Bhubaneswar: An exclusive cloth store named ‘Designers’ Garment Cell’ was opened today at Boyanika Bhawan here keeping in view the demand of readymade garments among the new-age customers.

Designers’ garments developed out of Odisha Handwovens covering gents’ garments like shirts, jackets, coats, Punjabis and ladies garments like kurti, jacket, lehenga, frock, chudidar etc. are available.

The new store was inaugurated by Padmini Dian, Minister of Handlooms, Textiles and Handicrafts this evening in presence of government officials.

This is an exclusive store for display of garments prepared by NIFT professional designers passed out from different centres of NIFT across India, who have their own boutique/design house or associated with design houses for development of fashionable fabric designs, an official statement issued by Boyanika said.

For this project, five NIFT designers – Manas Ranjan Dash, Binoy Kumar Munda, Akankshya Sarkar, Swikruiti Pradhan and Delight Shoppers – – have tied up Boyanika to sell their products in the state.

Besides above, the exclusive products of two National Awardees including Prahallad Meher of Sonepur district and Sasmita Meher of Bargarh district have been displayed in the “Designers’ Garment Cell” for sale.

More number of award-winning designers will be invited to participate in this cell keeping in view the demand of customers in future, it added.

Shubha Sarma, Commissioner-cum-Secretary to Govt., H,T & H Deptt., Govt. of Odisha, Sesha Kumar Meher, President, Boyanika, Bikash Chandra Mohapatra, Managing Director, Boyanika and other dignitaries of Department and Directorate were present at the occasion.
