Rourkela: Dispute over death of chickens turned ugly as it claimed life of a minor girl at Kumbharapada village under Hatibari police limits in Odisha’s Rourkela today.
The deceased has been identified as Roshni Dungdung (14). According to reports, seven chickens domesticated by family members of the girl had died. They were suspecting that neighbour Samir Dungdung and his family members had poisoned the fowls to death.
A heated exchange of words erupted between the two families over the matter last night. It soon turned into a brawl during which Samir sustained injuries on his head.
In retaliation, Samir attacked the minor girl with a wooden plank leaving her critically injured. She was admitted to the Rourkela Government Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment.
