Balasore: Train movement was disrupted and passengers were stranded after a chunk of soil caved in under the railway track in Balasore district of Odisha here today.
As per reports, the Bhadrak-Kharagpur Memu passenger train was halted near Amara bridge close to Haladipada station as there was a breach in the downline after soil under the railway track was washed away following incessant rains. Consequently, plying of all trains on that route remained suspended while those commuting on the upline had to slow down and are moving at 10 km/hour.
As the movement was disrupted, passengers were seen alighting from the train and walking on the tracks towards their respective destinations.
Meanwhile, movement of trains on the upline was regulated at various stations.
