BREAKING: Odisha reports 1 more COVID19 death; 82 new cases, tally at 978

Bhubaneswar:  Odisha reported one more COVID-19 death after a 75-year-old male patient succumbed to the deadly virus in Cuttack district, informed the Government today. ‘

Besides,  82 new persons tested positive for the virus in the state taking the total count to 978. The fresh cases are from Jajpur (31), Bhadrak (21), Kendrapara (8), Cuttack (4), Khordha (4), Puri (4), Jagatsinghpur (3), Angul (2), Balasore (2), Sambalpur (2), Nayagarh (1),  Contact tracing and followup action is underway, said the Health and Family Welfare Department.

Out  of the 82 fresh cases, 77 were reported from quarantine centres and five are locals. Last evening, 20 positive cases were reported from Jagatsinghpur, a few hours after the district  along with Bhubaneswar was declared corona free with recovery of all its patients. All the new patients were lodged in quarantine centres after their return from West Bengal.

With the new cases, the number of active cases in the state surged to 696 while the number of recovered patients now stands at 277. So far, five persons have died due to the respiratory disease in the state.

It is pertinent to mention here, the deadly virus has spread to 23 out of the 30 districts in Odisha so far.
