Berhampur: Another MLA in Odisha along with his wife has tested positive for deadly Coronavirus, official sources said. The legislator belongs to COVID-19 worst-hit district Ganjam.
Polsara MLA Srikant Sahu and his wife, who were under home quarantine at his official quarters in Bhubaneswar, have tested positive for the virus.
“As I started to develop mild symptoms, I and my wife came to Bhubaneswar from Ganjam and gave our swab samples for testing on last Tuesday. The reports of both of us came out positive,” said Srikant.
“Currently we both are under home isolation at my official quarters as there are mild symptoms. I have not been to the state Assembly for the last two months,” he further added.
Contact tracing and active surveillance is underway, informed an official.
Worth mentioning, Srikant is the fourth legislator from the state to have contracted the virus. Earlier, three MLAs, two from Balasore district and another from Cuttack district have been infected with the virus.
