Brother-sister duo critical after snakebite in Odisha

Balasore: A minor boy and his youngest sister were hospitalised after being bitten by a snake at Jaleswar area in Balasore district.

The victims were identified as Satyabrata (12) and Pushpalata (10), the children of Bansidhar Pramanik of Ambidhangadia village under Kamarda police limits. They were taken to hospital in critical condition after snakebite.

According to reports, a common krait, species of venomous snake, bit the brother-sister duo while they were sleeping at home at around 11.00 pm on Tuesday.

Sources said that the family spotted the snake inside the house after hearing the screaming of children.

The two were rushed to the GK Bhattar Government Hospital in Jaleswar from where they were referred to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in Balasore for treatment.
