Brother-sister duo drowns in pond in Odisha’s Koraput

Koraput: Tragedy struck Pipalpur village located in Lamtaput block of Odisha’s Koraput district this morning as two young siblings lost their lives in a drowning incident.

The victims have been identified as Yogesh, a 5-year-old boy, and Satathi, his 10-year-old sister, both children of Jinu Ladanaik.

According to reports, the siblings were bathing in the village pond when an unfortunate accident occurred. They accidentally slipped into deep water, and since there was no one present at the pond at that time, they were unable to receive any assistance.

Jinu, their father, had gone out to work, and upon the children’s prolonged absence, he grew worried and began searching for them. Despite his efforts, he could not find any trace of his missing children. Later, local residents discovered the two children floating in the pond and brought them to safety.

Sadly, by the time they were rescued from the water, the children had already passed away. The news of their tragic demise spread throughout the village, casting a somber atmosphere over the community.

Upon receiving the information, the police promptly arrived at the village. They sent the bodies for post-mortem examination and initiated an investigation into the incident.
