Brown sugar seized in Odisha’s Balasore, one held

Balasore: Balasore excise officials today busted a brown sugar racket by arresting a trader at Ambakuducchi village under Singla police limits.

The officials seized 30 gram of brown sugar from the accused during raid at the village.

According to reports, the accused identified as Rabindra Ray (50) was in the brown sugar trade since a long time. The excise department had also information about the illegal trade at the village, but could not take action against him.

Acting on tip-off, the excise officials were hiding near the accused’s house in the wee hours on Monday. Rabindra was arrested while he was going outside from house with brown sugar, informed Excise Inspector Karunakar Tiwari.

Although, the exact amount of seized brown sugar is yet to be measured, but it is estimated to be 25-30 gram of weight.
