Twin City Commissionerate police today seized 52 grams of brown sugar from a shop in Palasuni area under Mancheswar police station limits in the Odisha capital and arrested one person in this connection.

The contraband was seized from a shop in Palasuni. Shopkeeper Sukuru Behera (21) alias Dhadia who has been arrested by the police is the son of Purna Chandra Behera is a native of Deranga village under Kaniha police limits in Angul district, police sources revealed.

Police suspect Sukuru to be a member of a drug smuggling racket and are investigating to find out the involvement of any other person in the illicit trade.

A case has been registered at the Mancheswar police station under section 21 (B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in this connection.
