Brown sugar worth more than Rs 10 lakh seized, one held in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police today arrested a youth in Cuttack after brown sugar worth more than Rs 10 lakh was seized from him.

When Chauliaganj Sub Inspector Truptimayee Sahu was patrolling along with her team in Jagatpur market premises, the movement of a youth raised her suspicion. She then approached the youth and searched him. A total of 10.3 gram brown sugar was seized from the possession of the youth.

During questioning, the youth, Kartik Das alias Ghunga accepted that he was waiting for a man near Jagatpur market to sell the contraband item. Kartik, a native of Golanthara area in Berhampur has been staying in Telisahi in Cuttack city.

After registering a case, the Chauliaganj Police is investigating the matter to find out the involvement of other persons. Earlier, seven cases were pending against him, said a police official.
