Balasore: Odisha STF arrested four drug peddlers and seized brown sugar worth over Rs 1 crore from their possession in Balasore district.

A team of Bhubaneswar STF with the help of Balasore district police conducted an anti-narcotic drugs raid near Balasore Railway Station Road yesterday evening and apprehended four drug peddlers.

The accused persons were identified as Sk Faiyaz, Sk Shamshed, Sk Murad and Sandeep Nayak, all belong to Balasore district.

During the search, the team recovered contraband brown sugar (heroin) weighing 1.100 kg, one Boxor M/c, and other incriminating materials from the possession of drug peddlers.

The arrested four will be forwarded to the District & Sessions-cum-Special Judge Court in Balasore.

A case has been registered under sections 21(c)/29 of NDPS Act 1985 in this connection.

The special drive against narcotic drugs has been continuing across Odisha since 2020. So far, the STF has seized more than 71 kg brown sugar, 202 gm cocaine and 116 quintal ganja, 750 gm opium and arrested 176 drug peddlers/dealers. The Special Task Force of Odisha Police has also destroyed more than 60 kg seized brown sugar and 136 quintal ganja in last one year.
