Brown sugar worth over Rs 3 Cr seized in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj; one held
Baripada: The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police today busted an illegal trade of narcotic drugs with seizure of a huge cache of brown sugar worth over Rs 3 crore during raid in Mayurbhanj district.
Based on a reliable information, an STF team conducted raid at Kuliana area on NH-16 in Baripada and seized brown sugar weighing at 3.2845 kg from possession of a dealer. The sleuths also recovered other incriminating materials from the accused person.
The drug peddler has been arrested and investigation is underway, Odisha Police said in a release.
Due to sustained drive, the STF alone has seized total 15.648 kg brown sugar including today’s seizure and detected 20 cases against the drug peddlers in 2020. So far, as many as 40 drug peddlers have been arrested by the special task force.
