Brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh seized in Odisha capital; 2 held

Bhubaneswar: Excise officials arrested two persons after seizing brown sugar weighing 100 grams from their possession near Dhauli Chhak here yesterday.

The two arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Ajay Pradhan and Sanatan Pradhan of Jamujhari village under Banki police limits in Cuttack.

Acting on a tip-off, a mobile squad of the Excise Department conducted a raid and nabbed the two the officials near Dhauli Chhak while they were returning to Bhubaneswar from Jaleswar. The officials also seized brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakh from them.

According to the sources, the accused used to bring the drug from Jaleswar and sell the same in markets of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri and Khordha. The duo was later shifted to Jharpada Sub-jail after their bail pleas were rejected by court, sources added.
