Bhubaneswar: A special gallery will be opened at Odisha State Museum showcasing antique idols of Lord Buddha discovered from Banapur in Khordha district.

A special gallery is being constructed on premises of the state museum and it will be opened for public on December 29 on occasion of the museum's 62nd Foundation Day. All the idols of Lord Buddha will be placed inside it, informed Odisha State Museum's Superintendent Jayanti Rath.

Reports said that as many as 75 bronze statues of Lord Buddha carved between 5th-10th century will be displayed at the gallery.

Besides, another much-awaited gallery 'Postal Heritage of Odisha' displaying rare stamps of India will be opened on the special occasion. Also, the postal stationery items like inland letter cards, traditional uniforms of postmasters and mailing service equipment like post box will be showcased at History of Stamps corner on the premises of museum.

An exhibition displaying the antique items is scheduled to be organised on the Foundation Day of State Museum. A few number of research journals including 'Odisha Historical Research Journal', 'Satyanarayan Rajguru: Contribution to Odisha History and Culture' and 'Reprint of Odisha Historical Research Journal' will be unveiled on the occasion.
