The budget session would commence with the opening address of Governor SC Jamir.

As per the notification, the budget session would be held in two phases.

While the first phase of the session would be held from March 15 to March 31, the second phase of the session would be held from April 26 till the conclusion of the session on May 20.

The budget session will have 33 working days.

The annual budget would be presented in the House on March 18, the notification said.

Notably, state Finance Minister will introduce the regular budget after the Union budget is approved in parliament. Since the revenue-sharing pattern has been changed after NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog came into effect, the state government is planning to prepare the budget after assessing the state’s share in the central budget.

An appropriation bill for two months will be passed in the assembly before March 31. A regular budget for the remaining 10 months will be sent to the standing committee and its comments submitted by April 25.
