Bhubaneswar, July 17:
Acting on the complaint of District Child Welfare Committee (CWC), police in Odisha capital registered a kidnapping case in connection with the missing of boy marathoner Budhia Singh.
According to sources, the Nayapalli police have registered a case under Sec 363 of IPC on the instructions of the quasi-judicial body.
As per the particular section of the law, whoever kidnaps any person or from lawful guardianship, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to seven years, and shall also be liable to fine.
Yesterday, CWC, Khurda had issued a notice to a producer of Viacom 18 Motion Pictures which is producing the sports biopic ‘Budhia Singh—Born to Run’ slated to hit the big screen on August 5.
“We have sent notice to a producer of the movie asking him to reply within three days whether Budhia Singh is with him or not. If yes, then on what basis he has taken him to Mumbai with whose permission,” CWC member, Benudhar Senapati said.
It may be mentioned here that Budhia has not reported to the sports hostel after the summer vacation raising many questions over his disappearance.
While it was reported in the media that Budhia and his mother Sukanti have gone to Mumbai, it is speculated that the duo is in the Maximum City to promote the movie.
