Builder arrested for duping doctor in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate police arrested a builder for allegedly selling a house constructed without approval from the development authorities in Bhubaneswar.

The accused has been identified as Sandipta Kishore Patnaik (50), a resident of Kailash Vihar under Chandrasekharpur police limits.

He was arrested following a complaint by Dr Sanghamitra Kar, a resident of Kalinga Nagar in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, Dr Kar had bought a house at Kalinga Nagar area from Patnaik. However, the builder had allegedly carried out the housing project without obtaining approval from the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA).

The fraudulence act by the builder came to fore when the BDA sent a notice to Dr Kar for illegal construction of the building. The document provided by the builder turned out to be a fake when she submitted it to the authorities. Later, she had to pay a huge amount as fine for owning the house, which was constructed without approval.

Duped by the builder, Dr Kar approached the Khandagiri Police following which Patnaik was arrested and forwarded to a local court yesterday.
