The miscreants barged into the house of Pramila Jena Mani while the family members were asleep after breaking open the back side of the house door.

Among the goods looted were about 233 grams of gold ornaments, half kilogram of silver jewellery and about Rs 70,000 in cash, Pramila reported at the local police station today.

Pramila’s son Pritam and a relative Manas Das, who woke up after hearing the sound during the loot bid, were threatened by the miscreants when they tried to stop the looters.

“My husband was out of the house yesterday on personal work. Taking advantage of this, the burglars might have thought of executing the crime,” Pramila narrated.

She also said the looters tied the hands and legs of her son and Manas and threatened them of dire consequences if they tried to oppose in their loot bid.

After getting information about the burglary, Tamando police, along with scientific team and dog squad, arrived at the spot to investigate the matter.

Police suspects that it was the handiwork of same gang of burglars that perpetrated another loot case reported at the local police station by a neighbour Roopa Das of the same village. The looters had decamped with jewellery and cash after forcibly entering into her house by breaking open her window grill the same night. The case was reported today.

“We are investigating from all angles to nab the culprits. We have sealed exit points of the Tamando police limits,” said a senior police official of the Tamando police station.
