Chitrakonda/Malkangiri: In a major milestone, Odisha government today started bus service to cut-off Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district in order to facilitate better connectivity for people of the area.

The bus service was inaugurated at Balimela Chhak by Nabarangpur MP Ramesh Chandra Majhi and Chitrakonda MLA Purna Chandra Baka and will ply between Malkangiri town and Panasput in Chitrakonda block.

The bus timings will start from Malkangiri at 6 am and reach Panasput  at 10 am. In the afternoon, it will start from Panasput at 2 pm and reach Malkangiri at 7 pm.

The development comes 10 days after 5T secretary VK Pandian’s visit to the region where he assured the people of bus services from the region, once considered a Maoist hotbed.

As per reports, the 5T secretary had visited Hantalguda in Swabhiman Anchal’s Chitrakonda on March 28 where local residents had interacted with him and once again voiced their longstanding demand for connectivity to the region. Following the interaction, Pandian had assured the people that bus services  in the region will start at the earliest.

Following the launch of the bus service, locals expressed joy as commutation from the region will no longer be a hassle for them.
